Tonto National Forest Authorizes Resolution Copper to Begin Collecting Data for Proposed Tailings Storage Facility

Forest Supervisor Neil Bosworth has approved both an environmental assessment and a plan of operations allowing Resolution Copper Mining, LLC, to gather necessary data to help evaluate possible construction of a large tailings storage facility on National Forest Lands.

Resolution Copper Project Comment Period Extended, Additional Meeting Scheduled

The Tonto National Forest has published a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in the Federal Register, announcing the beginning of the EIS process for the proposed Resolution Copper mine and an associated land exchange.

Tonto National Forest Authorizes Data Gathering Activities Draft Decision for Resolution Copper Mine Issued

PHOENIX, January 15, 2016 — For Immediate Release.
The Tonto National Forest has released the Draft Decision to authorize collection of baseline hydrological, geochemical and geotechnical data in an area where Resolution Copper has proposed a tailings storage facility. The baseline data will assist the Forest in analyzing Resolution’s General Plan of Operations during development of the Environmental Impact Statement.
