Reclamation field studies were designed at the Phelps Dodge Morenci Mine in Arizona to evaluate the benefits of biosolids, cattle impact, and other treatment variables on soil-capped tailings.
Experimental monolayer evapotranspiration cover systems were installed in 1997-98 over mine tailings at the Morenci mine in the semi-arid southwestern United States. Test plots were constructed on the tailings dam sideslope to examine effects of cover treatments on vegetation and net infiltration flux into the tailings.
