Comment on DEIS

The public comment period for the Draft EIS is now closed.

The web form was one option offered by the Forest Service to interested parties wanting to comment on the Resolution Copper Project and Land Exchange Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The 90-day Draft EIS comment period ended November 7, 2019.

Only those individuals who provided timely and specific written comments will have eligibility to file an objection (36 CFR 218.5) under 36 CFR 218.8. For objection eligibility, each individual or representative from each entity submitting timely and specific comments must either sign the comment or verify identity upon request. Issues raised in an objection must be based upon previously submitted timely, specific written comments regarding the proposed action unless based on new information arising after the designated comment opportunities.

The Southwestern Region Office of Lands and Minerals Management is overseeing and administering the land exchange and appraisal process which includes the 2,422-acre Oak Flat Federal Parcel. All questions about the land exchange and appraisal process should be emailed to SM.FS.rcexinfo@usda.gov

Programmatic Agreement Info

To comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the Tonto National Forest developed a Programmatic Agreement (PA) and included it in Volume 5, Appendix O of the final EIS. The PA was created in cooperation with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the State Historic Preservation Office, tribes and other consulting parties. The PA contains an agreed upon process for identifying, evaluating and addressing adverse effects to historic properties associated with this undertaking.
