Subaqueous Disposal of Pyrite Tailings
The objectives of this memorandum are to:
- Summarize the information provided by RCM and reviewed by BGC and the Workgroup
- Describe key considerations, as well as available guidance and best practice in the industry for subaqueous disposal of reactive tailings
- Comment on the applicability of subaqueous disposal in an arid environment.
This memorandum does not address other technical aspects of the proposed TSF and does not include an independent assessment of the minimum water cover requirements, or the associated make-up water requirements necessary to ensure adequate water cover.

Programmatic Agreement Info
To comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the Tonto National Forest developed a Programmatic Agreement (PA) and included it in Volume 5, Appendix O of the final EIS. The PA was created in cooperation with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the State Historic Preservation Office, tribes and other consulting parties. The PA contains an agreed upon process for identifying, evaluating and addressing adverse effects to historic properties associated with this undertaking.
