This cooperative plan is primarily designed to detect declines in territory occupancy, nest success, and productivity in six regions across the United States. Regional data for all population measures will be combined to examine trends nationwide.

The nature and purposes of a national scenic trail defines the ideal trail setting and the context for what types of uses and activities are appropriate for the trail and its corridor. The nature and purposes are critical to the proper protection and management of national scenic trails and can be derived, in part, from Sec. 3(2) of the National Trails System Act.

The physical and chemical characteristics and ecological consequences of road dust in arctic regions are reviewed with emphasis on recent information gathered along the Dalton Highway and the Prudhoe Bay Spine Road in northern Alaska.

This manual was developed to provide guidance for the design, construction and maintenance of ADOT projects on lands managed by BLM and the USFS. Differing agency missions can create conflict unless proposed activities are managed in a true partner relationship.

Tonto National Forest identified 26 river segments as eligible for wild and scenic rivers designation. Determinations for eligibility were made using the process outlined in the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System Act of 1968. The results of these studies were adopted as amendments to the 1985 Tonto National Forest plan.
