This morning the committee is considering legislation to provide for a land exchange between the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, and the Resolution Copper Company to facilitate Resolution Copper’s development of a large copper mine in Southeastern Arizona.

Response to TNF letter regarding draft reclamation and closure plan clarifications.

Due to the nature of the Resolution Copper deposit (ore mineralogy, depth, host rock hydrogeologic characteristics), in-situ mining is not reasonable, practicable or technically feasible for the large majority of the copper minerals that comprise the Resolution ore body.
