The root system of shrub live oak (Quercus turbinella) was studied in an initial effort to classify the major Arizona chaparral shrubs as potential users of soil water based on root system characteristics.

Water balances models have been developed for each alternative. These water balance models have been augmented by the addition of chemical balances. The purpose of this memo is to provide a description of the predictions of the chemical balance and resulting solute chemistry for Alternative 3.

Biological soil crusts (BSCs) can play an important role in hydrological cycles, especially in dryland ecosystems where the availability of water is limited. Many factors influence the hydrological behavior of BSCs, one of which is the microstructure.

One of the issues identified to be analyzed in the environmental impact statement (EIS) is the presence of unpatented mining claims that might overlap with the proposed project footprint. The purpose of this memorandum is to document the receipt of additional unpatented claim information files for the project record.

While many studies have found a decrease in seedling emergence with increasing stockpile age in temperate regions around the world, a few examine the effect of stockpile age on topsoil seed bank and seedling recruitment in arid environments.

Imperial Metals has estimated it will cost $67.4 million for cleanup and rehabilitation of the Mount Polley gold and copper mine tailings dam spill.

A comprehensive guide to this popular area east of Phoenix includes 650 routes and 1,200 boulder problems.

The Handbook provides guidance to U.S. state transportation agencies in measuring, predicting, and mitigating highway construction noise and developing noise criteria.

This Pipeline Protection Plan provides a summary of engineering efforts to protect the pipelines within the corridor from potential failure.

Experimental monolayer evapotranspiration cover systems were installed in 1997-98 over mine tailings at the Morenci mine in the semi-arid southwestern United States. Test plots were constructed on the tailings dam sideslope to examine effects of cover treatments on vegetation and net infiltration flux into the tailings.
