Resolution Copper plans to use sodium isopropyl xanthate (SIPX; C₄H₇OS₂Na) as a collector agent for sulfide mineral processing. The purpose of this technical memorandum is to provide a summary of the use, properties, decomposition kinetics, and decomposition products for SIPX. This information is used to evaluate the environmental fate and transport characteristics of SIPX relevant to the tailings storage facility (TSF) for the Resolution Copper Project.

This technical memorandum has been issued to correct for tailings seepage rates that were recently modified in the steady-state models for tailing storage facility (TSF) Alternatives 2 and 3 (M&A 2018) per the direction of the United States Forest Service and the groundwater working group.

The survey was designed to help answer questions about the depths to bedrock and character of the basin fill in support of a geotechnical feasibility study for the proposed TSF.
